About famous Humayun's tomb : Humayun's Tomb is located In Nizamuddin on the bank of the river Yamuna, Delhi India. It was built as Mughal Emperor Humayun's tomb by Haji Begum in the year 1565. It is the complex of buildings in Mughal architecture and In Hindi it is known as Humayun ka Maqbara. This structure has been designed keeping in view the Iranian "Charbhag".

It is the the masterpiece of the Indo-Islamic culture in India. The famous Humayun's tomb is a World Heritage Site and the 1st example of Mughal architecture in India. The architecture of the mausoleum is similar as Taj Mahal. The Humayun's Tomb has gardens and high walls on 3 sides which are further divided in to 36 equal parts with the help of canal and fountains.

This architecturally prime tomb is mainly built of red sandstone and red and white marble. There are many things in the Taj, which have been copied from Humayun's tomb, for example "Charbagh" style and Crescent on the top of the dome. The center of the hall is octagonal in shape stands the Cenotaph of Humayun. It is surrounded by smaller octagonal halls on alternate corners and lobbies on the sides.

Humayun's Tomb is built on a large stone platform. Three sides of the stone pedestal was surrounded by lush-green lawns. River Yamuna present On the back of its structure. Todays the river Yamuna has shifted its course, you can still find the traces of marks left by the droplet water. There are arch on every side. The central part of arch is the highest among them. All the floors of the Humayun's tomb have same design. The height of top floor has 42 meters high with marble and cenotaphs around it.

How to reach at Humayun's tomb Delhi By Delhi Metro : Nearest metro stations are JLN Stadium, Jorbagh or Racecourse metro stations are the nearest station for Humayun's tomb. A little long for a walk to the tomb, but you can easily catch a rickshaw at the station and he'll drive you there in 8 to 10 minutes. These stations are on Rajiv Chowk (Connaught place) - Qutub Minar metro line.
