About: 11km away from the bus stop stand at Shoghi, Himachal Pradesh, the Tara Devi temple known for its spiritual and heritage value. It is believed to be built around 250 years ago when it had a wooden idol of Tara Devi. Later the temple got shifted to the top of the hill with a more attractive idol made of eight rare elements or "Ashtadhatu".

Mythology: The temple is dedicated to Goddess of stars and hence called as “Tara Devi temple”. She is second among the ten Mahavidyas of Goddess of great wisdom. She is also a form of shakti and signifies protection according the Hindu Dharm. Like a star it represents beauty from outside but a self-combusting body, energizing all of life and hence perceived as the major of all the buddhas- the unit field of energy from which all forms arise.

It is believed that Goddess Tara was brought all the way from West Bengal to Himachal Pradesh. Once upon a time, the 96th generation of the Sen dynasty- Raja Bhupendra Sen- encountered an unusual incident in life. On his way, in the forest, he heard a heavenly voice of the Goddess enclosed in his gold locket. It said that the Goddess desired to offer her blessings to the public and a temple should be built where pooja on everyday basis take place. Immediately, he considered its importance and donated a huge piece of land.

Among all the religious places of Shoghi, this temple has a different power of enchantment where people feel humbled and gives eternal peace and energy.
