The devotees of the Goddess fast and gather here on the eighth day of the full moon in the month of May when, according to belief, the Goddess changes the color of the spring's waters. According to the sayings, there were three hundred sixty springs surrounding the main spring but all of these seem to have disappeared as the land became marshy. The Goddess worshiped in the Kheer Bhawani Temple is also known by various other names also i.e. Maharagya Devi, Ragya Devi, Ragya Bhawani etc.

The temple has borrowed the name of Kheer Bhawani from the ritual in which devotees offer rice and milk pudding to the goddess and many other dishes. It is believed that milk and Kheer turned to black color to warn of any impending disaster. Maharaja Pratap Singh got the temple constructed in 1912. Later, Maharaja Hari Singh undertook the repair and restoration work on the temple. The Kheer Bhavani temple also hosts an annual festival held in May-June, on the occasion of Jesht Ashtami. During this festival, a large number of Hindus visit the temple to seek blessings of the goddess.

The best time to visit the temple is in the duration of July to September every year. If your soul is a seeker and traveler within you does not allow you to sit back, then come on to visit the hidden treasures of various states. One not to be missed is the Kheer Bhawani Temple.
