Navratri is literally referred to "Nine Nights Festival" in India where these days are considered sacred for the worship of Shakti or Devi. There are normally four types of Navratri namely Gupta Navratri, Vasanta Navratri, Ashadha Navratri and Sharad Navratri. In most places people keep fast for full nine days whereas others make it for the first and last day. Most devotees only confine to fruits or milk for nine days. Ladies lit continuous jyoti in front of the image of Godess Durga these days and sow jau and they grow into nauratas which is considered as lucky charm by many. As compared to other religious festivals in India, Navratri is also rejoiced with great zeal in different corners of the nation. It’s a most popular event in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, West Bengal, Bihar and more. On the day of Navmi it’s a declared one day holiday.
