Significance of The Gudi Padwa: This day carries special importance for the Hindu devotees because according to the Brahma Puran, Lord Brahma created this universe on this day and the first day of Chaitra month, which heralds the Vasant Rithu, Satyug began and also Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya.

Attractions of Raising the Gudi in Gudi Padwa: The Gudi is made by a bamboo pole, around which it is tied a bright yellow or green silk cloth. A metal pot(Kalas) is decorated with mango leaves and marigold flowers and is balanced atop the Gudi. Finally it is prominently displayed outside the house and offerings are made while worshiping it.

Celebrations on Gudi Padwa: Colourful rangolis are drawn, people cook Shrikhand and Poori on this day. Gudi Padwa consider as one of the four most auspicious day in the Hindu calendar, and is considered an excellent day for beginning the new year in Maharashtra.
